Ah Long runner beaten to death
By ANN TAN
GEORGE TOWN: A loan shark runner died after being bashed up by a loan defaulter and several men when he went to collect debts at a food stall in Permatang Damar Laut.

Sin Chee Loon (pic), 24, who was known as “Botak”, had asked the debtor to meet him at the stall at 10pm on Sunday and to bring RM1,500.
Sin brought four of his friends along to meet the loan defaulter, who turned up with seven burly men.
The runner and his friends were forced in to a vehicle by the rival group and taken to a secluded area near the Pesta Pulau Pinang site in Sungai Nibong where they were assaulted with iron rods and wooden sticks.
It is learnt that the group fled when the police arrived following a public tip-off. Sources said the group were triad members from Kuala Lumpur.
Sin, who was semi-conscious, was rushed to a private hospital and transferred to the Penang Hospital when his condition worsened. He succumbed to his injuries at 6.30pm on Monday.
Balik Pulau Deputy OCPD Deputy Supt Lai Fah Hin said: “Initial investigations found that the debtor, who is from Batu Maung, owed a loan shark RM1,500, but insisted that he had only borrowed RM690.
“He made an appointment to meet with Sin, saying that his friends would pay on his behalf.”
Supt Lai said police found iron rods and wooden sticks at the scene, and the case was being investigated under Section 149 of the Penal Code for intent to cause death and Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
It is believed that police were tracing six to seven people who were involved in the incident. Police later detained the debtor and four of Sin’s friends to facilitate investigations.
The five men detained, aged 18 to 25, have been remanded for seven days under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
When met at the Penang Hospital mortuary yesterday, Sin’s father Sun Hock said he received news about his son at 4.30am on Monday.
“I am unaware on his activities. Upon arriving at the scene, I noticed that four of his friends had light injuries,” he said.
The 56-year-old bus driver said most people called his son ‘Botak’ because he was born without hair and had been bald all his life.
Hmmm... talk about retrobution. Scary!!!
